#7: The Mink Coat

Let's finish things out with some raw Pizazz!
Or, at least, I was going to say raw Pizazz... but then I remembered that for obvious reasons wearing fur isn't as popular as it once was.

Mink Coat

Whether found in your grandmother’s attic or purchased by your gangster boyfriend, there’s something especially luxuriant about the fur of a once living creature.

Tags: Outerwear, Gendered [Feminine]

Warm as Hell: Take +1 bonus Function in cold weather.

Fur is Murder: When performing violence, add a 7 to the Sequence. Afterwards, damage the Mink Coat.

Pretty in Mink: Gain a +2 Lavish Looks Grace. Lose this Ability if the Mink Coat is damaged.

Style: +1 Pizazz, +1 Clash

Budget: 2
    And, let's break it down...

Tags

Coats get Outerwear, so if it's the topmost layer it doesn't count towards wearing too many layers.
While there are men's fur coats, even mink coats, it's striking enough to make me feel like our perceptions on these things are still gendered. Notably, in game mechanics gendered clothing does not care about the gender of the wearer, but of the rest of your clothing. For Gendered to do anything you have to be wearing at least two Articles with the Tag. Then you check which gender all your Gendered Articles are. If they all match, you get +1 bonus Trend, and if even one doesn't you get +1 bonus Clash. It's a handy source of an extra die, and a minor benefit.
I did consider making it armored. Big thick coats make sense for that... but I think fur is hard enough to take care of to make that less appropriate.

Warm as Hell

An acknowledgement that the coat is a coat, and warm. I considered giving the Mink Coat +1 Function along its +1 Pizazz, because of the practical consideration... or doing some weird Armor trick to absorb problems of cold, but I think this bonus is more parsimonious.

Fur is Murder

Bit Cruella de Vil to just hand out a bonus to violence, but... no buts, I think that's fun. I like to imagine the damage after is blood.
Did consider the drawback being that you add a 5 to the Sequence when dealing with animals, but that really was the wrong kind of cartoon logic, I think.
I do, by the way, not necessarily expect this to be only Mink Coats. In play a lot of fur coats could fit here, but I wanted to conjure the image of a particular kind of rich, lavish fur coat, rather than more purely practical ones.

Pretty in Mink

Had some back in forth about exactly what kind of bonus I wanted to relate to Pizazz, because I didn't want the specials to just all hit Clash. I think a straight up Grace relating to the expensive and luxury of the item was most appropriate. Might revisit this... but I do also need more Articles that hand out Graces for the next round of testing.

Style

Because of fur's common existence as a luxury item, even unto the present day, I knew I wanted it to give a +2 Style. I debated, as noted above, +1 Function/+1 Pizazz. Gives good coverage, but doesn't stack well... on the other hand, big fur coat making you better at running and weaving seems weird. Thought about just full +2 Pizazz... almost went with it. Seems quite fitting to the image. But, I was thinking about mink coats as they show up in their heyday. Today they're not nearly as common, and are likely to cause a bit of a stir because of our modern feelings about fur. That seems like Clash.
So, Pizazz+Clash, a perfect scene maker!

Budget

    Mink's expensive.
